I worked at Sportsman's Guide full-time (More than 10 years)
Many good people work there. Often, difficult goals are attained in a short amount of time. Departements work well within.
Systems need to be updated. Departments don't always work well with other departments, often just trying to assign blame. Too many vice presidents. Executive management does not always support and assist those below them, leaving them alone to resolve problems or complete projects. When mistakes are then made, fault is quickly pointed out by the executives. Communication is not always good.
Advice to Management
Many departments are too lean to function well. Get rid of a few VP's, hire more help and update systems.
