I have been working at Spring Hill College full-time (more than 8 years)

Fantastic colleagues, respect from peers and supervisors, strong religious values; no micro-management; freedom in the classroom to experiment for the sake of increasing effectiveness; great students; small community with lots of interpersonal interaction.

Lower-than-average compensation; lack of openness regarding budget; talk of shared governance is mostly talk rather than genuine commitment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent -- take faculty seriously -- remember that your employees and faculty should not be excessively overburdened; we want to do all that we can, but beware the straw that broke the camel's back! When considering costs, include personal costs to the lives of your staff and faculty.
