I have been working at St. Joseph Health System part-time (Less than a year)

-Coworkers are great people -Pay is above average for comparable services in area -Management actually listens and responds -some benefits even for part-time -Lots of overtime opportunities -9-1-1/ Transfer/ interesting stand by -not super busy 3-8 calls per shift avg. -chance to practice alot of medicine... Go through entire protocols often. -good training and education opportunities. Education Dept will definitely advance your knowledge and training.

-if working pure transfer truck...can be true nightmare. Don't expect to see station at all every 4th or 5th shift -average call takes two hours per call -30 to 50 mile transports... 2am calls... Not fun. -very limited budget...old gear -hamstrung management. EMS is kind of the step- child of the St. Josephs system. Alot of our needs go unheard - unmet by system management -out of seven stations, 5 are shabby... Just random buildings or mobile homes with crazy parking that EMS was bequeathed. No real stations -for a not-for-profit organization, there is alot of focus on billing.

    Advice to Management

Listen to EMS management and turn us into a world class service. We have the talent, now give us the tools.
