I worked at Stanley Steemer International full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I liked my Branch Manager and the crews. The District Managers were a different story! Never happy, not smart, very ignorant. All in all, the company is decent if you understand the salary structure when you're hired. Otherwise, they start playing games with your commissions about 10 months into the job! Stanley Steemer is well-known, I had lots of leads provided.

    Cons

I left the company in my 1st year after I was asked to pay back $8k in commission because I had signed an agreement for a 'recoverable' salary draw. If my sales fell below $450k (I was paid 10% commission) I had to pay back the salary advance (that's what a DRAW means, it's an advance of your future commissions!). None of this was explained to me when I was hired! I was told at my interview that any 'draw deficit' would be forgiven (did not have to be paid back) for the first year. However, 10 months into the job, my sales were only at $370k and I was running an $8k deficit (sales below $450k.) One day, a Manager from Corporate flies into town and asks for $8k back. I said 'Are you kidding me?' and walked out. They did not get the money back. 99% of the people who work at Stanley Steemer are decent but 1% of the managers ruin it!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell the Truth! Treat employees with respect. Don't play games with commissions. And don't ask for commission money back!
