I worked at Staples part-time
I worked at Staples during a few years between college. I overall had a pretty run of the mill experience. I worked in the Easy Tech department and had a great rapport with customers and offered products for their technology needs. They were flexible with my class schedule and were very personable and helpful in my personal and professional growth. I had a great GM that worked hard to help customers and her employees achieve their potential at work.
As an EasyTech the pressure to up sell on services in the EasyTech Dept, The Service Plans that were somewhat unfair to the customer for what they were paying for, High Overturn rate in multiple job positions, Layoff practices (elimination of positions), Lack of interaction with District Mangers and other higher ups. Not many group work outings/get to know your co-workers.
Advice to Management
Get down to your employees level and get to know them better, I feel that if you only know your employees in passing they wont be encouraged to put their best foot forward and some may fall behind. Work to boost employee morale and offer more options and incentives for advancement.
