    I have been working at Staples full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Management appreciates hard work. Also appreciate selling of warranties as it increases their bonus. If you can do your job effectively it has a high level of job security.

    Cons

    I work in office supplies. It is the worst area you can work in. No opportunities for advancement exist from this department. The pay is much less then other departments. You are asked to do much more physical labor then other departments. You have to cover the register/electronics department every day. The starting pay is very close to minimum wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Develop additional advancement opportunities for office supply associates. Reward associates who meet and exceed expectations. Incorporate a training program that prepares associates for opportunities across the store, not just in office supplies. Incorporate a pay for merit system to appropriately compensate associates for their skills/abilities.
