I worked at Starbucks part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great partners, mostly fun atmosphere, some wonderful regulars, solid benefits offered (healthcare, stock options, tuition, etc), opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't listen to partners about complaints or issues. New partners are thrown onto the floor with little training and expected to be able to handle the fast pace required by the nature of the business. Corporate has made so many changes in the last few years to "streamline" everything, and Starbucks has lost most of what makes it a coffee company. If you are really passionate about coffee, go work for an independent cafe. Starbucks is the fast food of coffee now. Those in management positions in my old district didn't care if people in other management positions were incompetent. My store hadn't passed a QASA audit in the 2.5 years before I started working there. Management made up rules and couldn't back them up with actual corporate policies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

LISTEN TO YOUR BARISTAS AND SHIFTS! Also, stop trying to become more than what you are. Starbucks = coffee, not Fizzios and sandwiches. Leave that to actual cafes.
