I have been working at Starbucks part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

After a longer-than-anticipated stint of being unemployed, I finally applied to work for Starbucks, and couldn't be happier with my decision. Being active, on-my-feet, and around people all day has gone a long way towards improving my well being, especially after the depression and low feeling of self worth after being laid off. While the pay isn't the best, the benefits go a long way, and the opportunity to work hard, interact with great customers, and contribute to a great team are satisfying.

    Cons

"Flexibility" can sometimes translate to really varied shifts which can begin at 4:30 AM or end at 10:00 PM. Some customers sure do get picky about their coffee modifications, which can be annoying, but stressing about $5 drinks are not worth losing a minute of my life over.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The leadership styles of a given manager and/or shift supervisor can truly make or break a Barista's experience and contributions.
