    I have been working at Starr Companies

    Pros

    After his call that his employees aren't making him enough money? None.

    Cons

    See above. He personally signs off on each new hire. Yet he ripped anyone who dared to speak during the call. Some regions grew by $50M or more. All MRG could say was "and are you happy with that?" Well yes. But no one dares to speak to The Great Oz in a way he doesn't want to hear. Here's a New Idea. Train your managers to be more creative and more willing to help and/or allow seasoned underwriters to do their job. We have a wealth of experience. But in some cases management wants to hold control so tight as to not allow the production you're looking for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    See above. If an UW isn't producing, and s/he has a proven track record, perhaps it's the manager. I see it EVERY SINGLE DAY. Talk to the Worker Bee's and let them tell you what's going on, without fear of repercussion.

    While I can't speak for everyone, I will tell you your message was NOT well received by your employees in my region. You don't give a rats behind how you treat and use your employees. Some leader. You're supposed to inspire. But you choose to intimidate and threaten. Do you really think that's the best way to make us more productive? A lot of us stood behind you during the whole AIG scandal. And many of us believed in you enough to come to Starr. I'm not the only one who regrets signing on again. How does that make the broker community feel when they have a new UW every couple of months. Vote of No Confidence.

    I realize you will fire me if you find out my identity. I have no doubt. But I stand for my fellow employees. Those who are busting their humps for you but who are too afraid to tell you what we are all thinking.

    Try helping instead of intimidating. Try praising instead of condemning and threatening.

    I was told I can't use fac. Now you're telling us to use it. Obviously that hadn't trickled down to your management. We are only as good as those who lead us.
