I have been working at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time (more than 5 years)

Only Pro is you get to talk to good guests. Some people truly enjoy calling to make reservations and know what they are looking for.

There is a long list of Cons to this place just going to list some of the majors ones. You will answer on average from 80 to 100 calls a day (which mean ones a phone call drops you will be picking up another one). You are expected to book whatever percent they put up, where phone calls are not filtered so you will get bill calls, info calls, early check in calls, ect. Every 3-4 months you have to bid on shifts and the shifts change every 3-4 month. (for exp. one bid they will have 7am to 330pm next bid it is gone) They do not accept any reason to miss work. I have had to work with a doctors noted double ear infection. Another con is you will have guests that will call you about a hotel that is out of your control (like to late to cancel, groups rates closed, etc.) and they will flip out on you like it is going in your pocket or you have anything to do with it. Management is even worse they only wright people up when they want to. (two people will be doing the same thing and only one will get written up for it.) Management will threaten your job every time you don't do something right. I have been told by a manager that my wife should leave me completely off subject and uncalled for.
