I have been working at State of Colorado - OIT full-time for more than a year

Current leadership is working hard to borrow best practices from private industry. The playbooks are consistently filled with the right work and technology is slowly getting a much-needed refresh.

Government is unsurprisingly political and inefficient. Rather than focusing on the work and the citizens, the agencies/departments are more worried about their power and share of money. Too many people seek government employment so they can coast and collect a safe check. It's hard to focus on the right work in such an environment/culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to share the cost of politics - inability for agencies to work together has cost $$$ and has derailed a project that would have saved $$$.
