I have been working at State of Oregon full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, family friendly, flexible work schedule, able to telecommute for a few years 1 x per week, I have had several awesome mid level Managers! I loved most of my co workers, I had decent trainings offered to me, more so while in Salem.

    Cons

Huge difficulty in promotion, friends tend to get promo first, very poor pay, benefits are getting worse as each year passes, my program was relocated from Portland to Salem due to budget cuts, No choice was offered to stay in PDX. "My position has moved to Salem." I worked out of class without the pay for a positions duties for years & continued to do so at 2 positions higher duties while transition from PDX to Salem to assist in any way I could. Still ended with almost no recognition & only 5% out of class pay for 5 months. I was asked to work 3 positions out of class shortly after with no out of class as well but landed a lateral transfer back to PDX. I had to apply for State positions as non employee "open competative" to attain position back in Portland with no assistance or real protocal from the union or HR. Huge economical & family hardship to our family. I had higher expectations & am seeking other employment outside of State as a result of my experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I dont know where to start. I think they are trying to implement change. Lots of satisfaction surveys but change seems to take a very long time. I wish the best of luck.
