I worked at SunGard Financial Systems full-timePros
Dwindling pockets of very dedicated, hard working, individual contributors that manage to mask or band-aid the short sightedness and/or failings of the executive team.
The embodiment of SunGard management -- "[i]n time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out its duties".Cons
It is evident that this is a company built by acquisition with no strategy or goal to integrate.
Extraordinary "silo-politics" at play in this cut throat and quasi toxic culture.
A great many legacy products utilizing old and outdated technologies that are only updated when absolutely necessary (and even then, grudgingly if accompanied by a cost).
Despite saying all the right things, SunGard pays little mind to its customers unless threatened with the loss of revenue.
It's execution is way below average and its strategies are extremely short sighted as they scramble from crisis to crisis.
If you are a potential customer, pay special attention to your contract with SunGard. You will be misled during the sales process.
Insist on performance penalties with teeth and consequence.
It would serve you well to check multiple references (and not just the same old tired ones provided by your sales rep).Advice to ManagementAdvice
