I have been working at Symantec full-time

    - Offers ample learning opportunities
    - Solid products
    - Competitive pay and benefits
    - Relaxed, friendly work environment
    - Dedicated and empathetic Tech Support Reps

    - Company has switched CEO twice in a short period of time, and company is lacking consistent direction.
    - Marketing and sales seem to have a less-than-adequate understanding of the products they're pushing and has no idea how to pitch their products. Lacking in at-a-glance product overviews that would normally entice customers.
    - Getting to the appropriate sales reps for buying and renewing subscriptions can be a nightmare for customers. We get angry, frustrated customers wandering into Tech Support all the time.
    - An unfortunate disconnect between departments.
    - Bloated list of products that need to be consolidated.
    - Some product development teams are don't attempt to cater to customer needs.
    - Too much unnecessary spending by upper management that takes away from.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I've thoroughly enjoyed working with this company and hope to continue to do so. Unfortunately, unsustainable marketing and sales practices, wasteful corporate expenditures, and a lack of consistent direction has slowly lead to a less stable workplace and is hurting employee morale.

    1) Hire sales and marketing personnel who know the products they're selling.
    2) Provide simpler purchasing experience for customers. I don't even want to know how many customers gave up on buying our products out of frustration of not being able to reach the right department & getting the right information.
    3) Provide a simpler at-a-glance product overviews that reach our end-users. Enterprise customers will follow where end user interest / awareness takes them.
    4) Cut down on unnecessary expenditures and limit upper management income so that the company won't experience internal hemorrhaging of its finances. Money needs to be spent constructively in a self-sustaining manner.
