    Current Employee - Administrative Assistant

I have been working at TIAA-CREF full-time for more than 5 years

The retirement benefits are excellent and you get plenty of PTO every year - so much that I've never been able to use it all

Too many levels of management and too much time spent on nonproductive activities and tasks that are being done for the sole purpose of being able to say you did them, not because they serve any useful purpose - "just gotta check that box". Also the technology is outdated and cumbersome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you trust yourselves to hire quality people, then assume you've hired quality people and let them do their jobs. Don't micromanage. Don't force client facing employees who are scored in part on the amount of time they spend talking to clients to spend 20% of their week in meetings with each other. You're getting in their way, and then wondering why they're not more productive.
