I worked at TOMS full-time (More than a year)
Employees are fantastic, full of talent and drive to make a real difference in the world.
It's a tragedy that the company and upper-management is so awful. They play favorites, treat people like trash, are unprofessional, and never commit to making change. Working at TOMS was an incredible experience and I loved every person on my team. They are creative, passionate, fun, burned out, unappreciated, looked over, and now that I am gone... I think of them often and wish they could all find a better place that will treat them right. The problem starts at the TOP! You must be ready to play politics because if you are not on the list of "favorites" they will muscle you out or eventually fire you. How does a company such as this, one that claims to want the best for the world, treat it's very own so terribly? It's a shame. It's honestly a shame and there is real ugliness in that playground of an office. It truly breaks my heart how underhanded things are there... beware! If you can get into the short-list of "favorites" then you are set. Otherwise, you will eventually have the same sentiment as the majority of people on here. There is so much potential at this company, but until there are major changes it will stay the same. This company is completely lost.
Advice to Management
You are all afraid for your own jobs and it's really pathetic. You treat your staff terribly when you should feel blessed to have such a wonderful group of people surrounding you. Take a look around you! There is so much heart and talent driving this company. I have literally sat in conference rooms listening to directors talk trash about their employees. How unprofessional! People are unhappy and it starts at the top... you all should be terrified for your jobs.
