I worked at TXU Energy full-time (more than an year)

Great company in terms of familial culture, dynamic, very talented individuals and teams. Company is very involved with giving back to the community. Company does a lot of fun activities with employees for charities. Company also supports a lot of local businesses. They also have awesome coffee bars in a few locations on each floor! Relaxed environment in terms of allowing employees to express themselves in fun outgoing ways. Company is pretty high-tech in terms of great conference rooms and their set-up. Company also tends to have high retention because you can move to positions within parent company EFH and provider Luminant. Very interesting industry to work in.

Almost no work life balance. The expected work week is absurd. Not a lot of flexibility in terms of working from home. Not a lot of PTO. Although they will comp you for weekends/holidays worked, it is almost impossible to take time off. They work you considerably which is fine if you are either willing to sacrifice your personal or family time; or you have little interests outside of work. Or if you just REALLY REALLY like to work. In Finance area, the work force is slim which may be part of the reason the work loads are so heavy. Also, they seem to experience high turnover in that area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-evaluation of work life balance and career mobility should be considered. There should be work life balance without sacrificing your career (i.e. being overlooked based on face time at the office) or personal life.

    Neutral Outlook
