    I worked at Taubman Centers full-time (More than 5 years)


    The pay was fair. Benefits were nothing more than decent. Accrued time off. Some departments are better than others. You pay for 1/2 of the *free* lunch program. Paid overtime. Leader in the industry with a clear vision for the future.


    If you want to be overworked, disrespected, not allowed to be creative, in the company of bullies, in a cramped environment while under supervision of the "Good 'Ol Boy Network" then the Legal Department is for you! Worked 50+ hours per week, so forget the work-life balance because working an 8 hour day is not negotiable. Averaged 300+ hours of overtime a year. Not allowed to take time-off during the busy months. Very few paid holidays. During my interviews, nothing was ever mentioned about the mandatory overtime and restrictions on time-off. Leasing Agents are infantile, callous, and unprofessional, consistent with last-minute demands making for long hours. In Taubmanland, you only do what they tell you to do, they way they tell you to do it. The only creativity allowed is how to fit 14 hours of work into a 10 hour day. Corporate suicide if you seek advice from upper management or HR to address issues or road-blocks trying to make your job more productive. No profit sharing to reward you for sacrificing your family for those long hours. After fighting for an annual bonus we were rewarded with a couple hundred dollars for all of our time and dedication. Pay increases not to exceed 2.5%, so if you don't hire in near the top of the pay scale, you will never reach it. With very good yearly reviews, denied transfers to other departments 3 times for jobs that I was well qualified for, as Taubman does not condone transfers but in rare situations. No career path incentives for promotions. While working here I was able to obtain some new knowledge, but overall, this job decreased my principals and philosophies.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more staff to reduce overtime hours and allow for an option of "Comp Time" to earn additional time off from overtime hours. Listen and stick up for your employees to prevent them from being rail-roaded by other departments. Create a corporate culture where hard work is financially rewarded with fair bonuses and profit sharing. Even out the workload between the sub-departments. Promote career-paths, promotions and transfers as this allows employees to provide additional skills to apply towards Taubman's goals. Some employees have diverse backgrounds with technical knowledge that should be tapped into; allow your employees to shine.
