Former Employee - Substitute Teacher  in  New York, NY
Former Employee - Substitute Teacher in New York, NY

I worked at TemPositions as a contractor for more than a year

consistent work flow, usually everyday a job is available
    -get to accept/decline jobs
-Discounted services upon certain length of employment

    The pay is very lousy

I worked as a substitute teacher and accepted a 2 day assignment at a high school I've never taught at before. My first day there was so terrible I came home crying because of how blatantly rude and unhelpful the office staff were, how the other teachers treated me and one accused me of not allowing a student out of the classroom for a counseling meeting (The student never asked) -- and would not help me when none of the video equipment was working. I expect the kids to not treat subs very nicely, but the staff and faculty? It was terrible - I had no idea where to go, with horrible instructions and overall felt very uncomfortable (some of the details I can't recall but it was BAD). I called right after to Tempositions - School Professionals to discuss how terrible my day was and how terribly the school treated me/how unorganized everything was ---- and they told me "oh well" and that I shouldn't "take a 2 day assignment then". They had no sympathy for what us substitutes have to deal with on a daily basis and how much it effects us.

    - Leads to NO job opportunities, all of my long term assignments never went anywhere. I have my Masters.
