Friendly, competent people. Easygoing atmosphere. Opportunities to learn and do good work. Office environment is no worse than most. Small company.

Death march scheduling overloads critical staff. Creaky, cumbersome existing systems are patched together and regularly fail. Customers going to social media to complain; terrible churn in customer base. Company's current monopoly position about to end and no replacement revenue stream in sight. Management is thrashing; setting and then changing directions, making and then rescinding decisions. Excessive turnover. The good spirit that once was a main reason for staying, has gone away, and the atmosphere is now toxic.

There is not enterprise architecture and critical design decisions are made based on individuals' whims and whatever is the bandwagon product of the moment. Standard professional best practices that protect against disaster are nowhere evident, causing frequent, frustrating, hair-raising fire drills. Ad hoc support crises kill productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some managers with some wisdom, who know more about what makes for a good organization and know how to treat people. Don't jerk people around all the time.
