I have been working at Texans Can Acadamies full-time for more than a yearPros
Work with "at risk" students grades 9-12.
A fair amount of freedom in creating lessons and curriculum.
Colleagues and other professionals who care about changing and improving lives.Cons
Long work hours (7:30am to 5pm required)
At will employment leads to high staff turnover.
If attendance numbers are not what they need to be any faculty member can lose their job.
Can be a challenge working with unruly inner-city kids. I have seen them run off several teachers.
The company bottom line is more important than the actual education of students.Advice to ManagementAdvice
