working as a hostess was a great high school/first job experience

    Former Employee - Hostess

I worked at Texas Roadhouse part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The hours are reasonable, the people are fun, the pay is good. I learned a lot about myself at Texas Roadhouse. This may be because I was in my senior year of high school and going on to college. They gave me great opportunities to lead without too much pressure and really learn about customer service. I felt what it was like to work in a team on the host stand and be a role model. I also learned a great deal about training others through they're excellent training program.

    Cons

Texas Roadhouse refused to give me the opportunity to be a server and move up in the company after a full two years as a hostess. they were not flexible with my training to become a server and did not help me learn and grow. I was immediately demoted back down to a hostess for seemingly no reason (or the reason was not explained to me). also, they were not cooperative when I was trying to get a new job in my new city.
