Work here if you like working once a week but being on-call five days a week

Current Employee - Sales Associate in Waco, TX
Current Employee - Sales Associate in Waco, TX

I have been working at The Gap part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Employee discount - 50% off regular priced items and an additional 10% off sale
Most of my co-workers are pretty cool

    Cons

Schedules - You'll have about 5 on-call shifts per week(which they'll never use) and only 1, maybe 2 actual work shifts per week and they're only ever 3-4 hours.

Understaffed - 90% of the time there's only two people on the floor, one on the adult side and one on the kid and baby side. Meanwhile, the manager is always in the office "working" on other stuff. This means you're the only associate on your side and they expect you to be able to help customers at the front of the store and those in the fitting rooms in the back, be cashier, fold clothes, take back clothes from the fitting rooms, watch for thieves, do returns... All by yourself!

GapCard - Your store has weekly credit card goals, but nobody wants a credit card.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit scheduling everyone with tons of on-call shifts; on-calls are just a way for a company to have themselve's covered if they need work without having to pay. It's terrible because we as employees still have to schedule our days around our on-call shifts.
