I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Customers and some great fellow associates ,
    You get a pay check
Amusing these great post from former Employees , if it was so good why did you leave?

    Cons

Obnoxious management , Self serving , demeaning when not flat out insulting , humiliating and degrading.
They have only one value greed .
There is 800 line to report violations of any types anonymously , they play back the tape to find who called , find a reason to terminate that Employee to protect themselves , to the detriment of the company as a whole .
You offer counseling , you have to sign in by the Manager's office , Wait did you say it was confidential. nothing is confidential at the Home Depot not even your medical condition as they post them in the office for anyone to see..
Your only solution do not talk . Forget about ASM , Managers here today gone tomorrow .
I love my Customers and they reciprocate that honk in the street , that hand shake at a store , we are part of the community , you are not .
Management do not even pick up the phone from Customers , Some department supervisor are NEVER in their Dept. , in some store good luck locating ASM , They get serious one month before inventory .
Then they all freak out ,brand new merchandise , fresh out of the shipping boxes in the dumpster like donuts in the fryers . They turn around and call it shrink ???
Shoplifters are a problem , it would not be should the supervisor were walking their dept. , they are in the break room or meeting room filing endless forms which end up in the trash

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is a shameful masquerade , stop announcing 3 weeks ahead of times your visits , This mean when you do such visit no one at Corporate should know it either .
Try to get assistance in the late afternoon or evening , like a real Customer .
Call from a local phone , we are driving away Customers to the competition ,

It is really Sad , The Home Depot has everything to succeed . And will eventually fail Victim of itself , like so many great companies before .

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
