I have been working at The Ottawa Hospital as a contractor (more than an year)Pros
The people I have met and had the pleasure of getting to know are great. There is a great work-life balance here and everyone is extremely understanding of personal family issues-especially when someone is in the hospital.Cons
-Very frustrating to be doing the same amount of work as everyone around me and not getting even half of what they are paid.
-Our team is very under-appreciated by the people above and there are only a limited amount of people looking after a large hospital that consists of 3 campuses.
-Due to budget cuts there is less job security (even though the people higher up keep getting raises)
-I have been on contract for over a year now. So there is no job security for me, I get paid very little for what I am trained for and actually do. Contract also means that I get no vacation time, sick days or benefits.
-HR isn't filling positions when people leave, instead the work those people did gets tossed onto others in the department with no additional compensation or appreciation.Advice to ManagementAdvice
People should not be taken advantage of and get work that they cannot handle dumped on to them. If we are hired for one thing, we should be paid appropriately and be able to focus on what we were hired to do-not have to our own job PLUS someone else's.RecommendsNeutral OutlookNo opinion of CEO
