I worked at The Ryland Group full-time (more than an year)

You get to feel like a real jerk with the way you treat people. Customers lay down their life savings for a house, and you get to continuously lie to them, and treat them like the scum they are. It really makes you feel big about yourself. The best part is when they take off a bunch of time from work because you've promised them something, and then you don't deliver, and they have to take off more time from work!

The only con I can find with Ryland Homes is not being allowed to treat customers with the respect they deserve. Not truly caring about their needs, and addressing and fixing problems they have. But I guess if I cared about that stuff, Ryland would not have hired me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to management is to put more emphasis on taking care of the customer. After all, without the customers buying the houses, Ryland is nothing. The reputation of treating people like garbage as soon as you have their initial down payment, and being unwilling to fix issues people have with their homes will follow them and eventually lead to their demise.
