I have been working at The Washington Post full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The Washington Post has instant name recognition, nationwide. Our journalists are very talented.

    Cons

The recent sale of The Post means that new hires won't get nearly the benefits that had been a signature of the storied Graham family that owned the newspaper in Watergate days.
There seems to be very much a sink-or-swim attitude, and employees can't count on HR or the help desk to solve their issues.
The company is shallow as far as opportunities for advancement.
New media opportunities often go to new hires, at entry level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should be looking to provide training opportunities to their current staff, rather than losing the institutional knowledge that exists.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
