    I have been working at Thomson Reuters full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Great work life balance, many opportunities for advancement, and awesome benefits. In addition to competitive 401k, insurance, good vacation time, etc., the company offers many other benefits/perks. There is back up emergency day care available if you have children or are caring for another family member (like a parent), which is highly subsidized by the company. There are also exercise classes available every day on campus (yoga, boot camp, interval training, etc.). The culture overall is flexible, with many departments having work from home options, and is dedicated to work life balance. The 12 week fully paid maternity leave surpasses many other companies.

    Cons

    In the legal division, the company is still trying to fit in the "new" market (post 2008). Pretty much every November, there is a reorganization that results in layoffs. They do try to move employees into other roles, but the laid off employees are almost always funneled into lower paying roles (and forfeit their severance pay by taking a new role within the company). There have also been several instances where individual's roles were eliminated as they were preparing for retirement. Products are often rolled out before are really ready, leaving customers with a negative view of the product even after it has been perfected.
    Pay is varied across the company, with top sales performers receiving excellent compensation while several areas employing attorneys pay lower-than-market salaries. It is not uncommon to see even top performers leave the company.
    You cannot carry over ANY paid time off, which isn't very convenient if you like to take a Jan./Feb. vacation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on changes that will really impact the business, consider additional investment in product development and stricter beta/testing requirements before bringing new products to market.
    Increase pay, especially in non-commissioned customer facing roles.
    Allow some PTO carryover.
