I worked at Thomson Reuters full-time (more than 5 years)

Thomson Reuters paid me very well, and allowed me flexibility when it came to working from home or being in the office. As long as I was passionate about achieving business goals and brought my own ideas to the table, my managers were supportive. Maintaining a positive attitude and taking responsibility for your own success is a must in this company, no matter how things change or what challenges you face. Not a place for people who need to be told what to do, how to do it, and when to do it

Complainers are dismissed as being "too negative", with attention rarely paid to the situations or people that might be inspiring the complaints. Managers in our business unit seemed to put very little effort into maintaining any kind of relationship with those reporting to them. I had five different managers in five years, and all but one of them was always too busy with their own workload to meet with me for 30 minutes 1-on-1 weekly, or even monthly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach with your employees as well as your customers when it comes to the corporate values you say you hold so dear. Realize that how people are treated, how they feel about coming to work every day and the social environment and culture within which they have to work might actually mean more to them than the money they are paid or the business goals they are asked to achieve.
