I worked at Tiburon, Inc. full-time (more than 5 years)

    - Your work helps public safety do their jobs more effectively and more safely, so you are ultimately helping the community that public safety is there to protect and serve as well as helping the first responders themselves.

    - Great place to come and stay awhile - the average tenure at this company is much higher than the average software company. There are plenty of people who have been there for 10-20 years - some even longer.

    - Very telecommuting friendly (at least most groups)

    - Nice folks - very few jerks to deal with in company

    - Clients are there for the long haul - average time an agency stays a Tiburon client is probably 10-15 years. And they never go out of business, which helps Tiburon's stability

    - Below market pay

    - Low company growth potential

    - No stock options

    - The public safety market has a very long sales cycle and thus sales tend to be unpredictable which leads to periodic lay-offs when Sales doesn't meet its goals

    - Owned by PE firm which likely means company will get sold at some point in the next 1-5 years. This could be a good thing, depending on the acquirer, but depending on the job you are doing there, it could put you at risk (although some jobs would be safe in any acquisition)

    - Very little continuity in the executive team - the CEO and executive team have gone through a lot of churn in the last 5-6 years which underlines the difficulty of being successful in the public safety software market and the difficultly of dealing with a PE owner who is net genetically predisposed to think in the long term

    Positive Outlook
