Great team, but very little communication with anyone above store management.

Former Employee - Floor Supervisor in Newport Beach, CA

I worked at Tommy Bahama full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Clothing allowance, team members. The employees at the store in which I worked were amazing. I really enjoyed my time there. A better opportunity came along and I couldn't pass it up. I really wanted to move up but saw no advancement in near future, yet I was promised. See advice to management.

    Cons

CRAZY Schedule, hours, pay, and their lack of concern or compassion for you outside your position or job. Our manager was walked off job a couple of months after I started. No reason given which I understand but leaves a lot to speculation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was a well educated and experienced employee. I was well liked and respected. I owned my own retail store for many years previous to accepting position. I was told I'd move up quickly by hiring store manager. I was hoping to move up into store management. I tried to see where I was in this process, since I was told this would happen upon my hiring. Could not get a meeting with DM/RM. So that was a bummer. eventually I was recruited out and into another company. Schedules were a bit harsh. Having me close (until 10:30 -11:00pm) and then open the very next morning (8:00am) was and is insane. I averaged about four - five of these a month. Sometimes two a week. CRAZY. Also weekly schedules were not handed out until late in the week of the previous week. How do you schedule your life, ie. appointments, family events, etc. around no schedule until its practically upon you.
