    I have been working at Toyota as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

    The English speaking Team Members (for the most part) are easy to work with. They are very patient and understand that some of the some technical issues take time to resolve.

    Cons

    As a contractor, I am basically ignored by all levels of management. This is no exaggeration. I mean I am literally ignored. I have made an effort to bust my butt every day and be outgoing but it doesn't matter at all. Even if I play "the game" bu going to various company functions (lunches, potlucks, etc), I am still ignored. Not even so much as a "hello, how are you today?" or a "thanks for your help on xyz project." Plus, the managers cherry-pick people for jobs. So if your contract house doesn't tell you about a new position, you will not hear about it until after it has been filled. And that's if the contract house was even told about the job!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Transition contractors to Team Members after 6 months or a year. Otherwise, the turn over will remain at its very high levels. Stop with the "s/he wasn't a good fit." No, you need to pay attention to contractors if you want them to stay. It is that simply. Ignore your employees and they will leave.
