    Former Employee - Business Manager

I worked at TranSystems full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

*I feel there are very few pros with this company but it has not always been that way. There has been a significant decline in the past year. The health benefits remain strong compared to other companies.

    Cons

*It was difficult to accomplish tasks in an efficient manner due to the lack of communication.
*There is a culture of fear among the employees which comes from not trusting senior management.
*Strategic plan and reorganization was rolled out in November 2014 - in January 2015 the reorganization was changed and positions were eliminated without any type of notice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise communicating more with those individuals that are working day in and day out with the producers of the company. It seems to be forgotten that the people are your profit.

In regards to the reorganization of the firm - it would be much better to be honest about what changes are going to happen instead of announcing one org chart and then changing it a few months later without notice. It feels dishonest and disrespectful. Management may find out that those individuals that are being eliminated would be able to help with the transition. Not all employees that are let go are angry about a lay-off situation and realize it is a business decision.

However, I believe the reduction in force that is currently happening would be unnecessary if there was focus on the business performance earlier in 2014 and steps were made at that time to streamline practices - however it was ignored throughout the year and then a rash decision had to be made to cut labor at the start of 2015.
