Former Employee - Account Manager  in  Alpharetta, GA
Former Employee - Account Manager in Alpharetta, GA

I worked at Travelers Companies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people at Travelers are great. While I worked there I saw a lot of teaming to get the job done. The benefits are very good.

    Cons

Performance expectations are extremely high. It is almost impossible to get a promotion unless you are "married" to your job, unless you are liked by upper management. The workload is generally too much for one person to get the tasks accomplished in the time frames established by the company, especially if you are an hourly employee. The constant meetings do not help & the stress level among many employees is extremely high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start giving yearly raises based on merit so that employees aren't wondering when & if they will get a raise. Hire more employees to spread the workload to a manageable level. Don't base staffing on what you think may happen next year. I've seen people released due to anticipated staffing needs & then called back months later. Lower your expectations of your people so that they can have a life outside work.
