Former Employee - Outside Property Claims Representative in Richardson, TX
Former Employee - Outside Property Claims Representative in Richardson, TX

I worked at Travelers Companies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and Salary were good, for a single person.

    Cons

I gained MORE respect as an Independent Contractor (in another State) before I was offered, and accepted, a Staff Position as an Outside Property Claims Rep. As an I/A, Agents were e-mailing the Desk Adjuster raving about my great Customer Service and commenting on how THIS is the kind of service WE want from the Claims Departments! Plus, Management wanted to make an Example of my Reports! But once on board, I could do NOTHING right. Found HEAVY Micro Management running rampant. Some managers looking to bail to other departments! Others playing Putt Putt Golf in the isle ways. Apparently, Unit Managers were told to focus using Tunnel Vision when just passing on negative comments to the field adjusters who were understaffed and overloaded with empty promises of help that was never going to arrive. Travelers prides itself on Do MORE with much LESS and expect all of your Drive Time to be considered as Personal Time! And NO Over Time Pay...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try telling your employees the truth BEFORE hiring them. Let everyone know what is REALLY expected in the positions. Tell the truth that this company is really a Tax Write Off for some other rich organizations! OTHERWISE, get someone who knows what they are doing. Speaking from experience, your company is NOT taking the Route that earns Excellent Customer Service. Even some big Agents are quitting writing your business because you disallow enough help and Time to take care of your Policy Holders and Agents. Reorganize your Property Departments; Diversify. I mean, what kind of competent leadership hires in a new Line Lead who then tells all overworked and heavily stressed adjusters who can not keep up with what they are working, that from this point forward, the adjusters will now start handling all contents claims and settling those claims on site BEFORE, the adjusters can begin writing any Building Damages, A.L.E., etc.! If you were running the company right, then WHY are so many employees Quitting?????
