    I worked at Trion Group, a Marsh & McLennan Agency full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Many of the people at the company are absolutely wonderful to interact with.

    The hours are very flexible, including the opportunity to work from home on a regular basis.

    There's always free food around (usually snacks and such).

    Employees get a lot of PTO.

    The holiday party at the end of the year is a blast.

    Cons

    Management is often conflicted, creating a constant flow of misdirection.

    Management often pushes all responsibility for mistakes onto those on the floor (in most cases the Tech Analyst).

    Management is quick to discipline employees without any provision of extra help or coaching. In other words, it's a sink or swim culture.

    Many team members constantly throw each other "under the bus" to avoid the previously mentioned discipline. In other words, most employees are working out of a place of fear.

    Little to no praise is given to employees for doing well.

    There's very little job specific training, or support for that matter. Most employees are left to fend for themselves.

    Expectations during the "busy season" are unrealistic. Expect to put life on hold from September through February, meaning expect to be working around the clock most of that time. Expect to be dinged for making mistakes or missing deadlines even when you are working around the clock.

    No bonuses are offered, even after enduring a lengthy busy season as previously described.

    The Tech Analyst turnover is quite high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    It all comes down to how you treat your employees. Show them that you actually care by building them up, training them well, praising them, and showing them empathy. People are loyal when they feel valued, and loyalty equals talent retention and dedication. You've got a culture based on fear at the moment, and it kills morale. Until that's fixed, it's likely that the busy season will always be a mess and that experienced workers will continue to leave the company.
