Former Employee - Residential Lawn Specialist in Lake Oswego, OR

I worked at TruGreen full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Pay was above average in industry. I suppose it did help me make ends meet during my employment.
The office staff was very approachable and sincere when speaking to customers.

    Cons

Workload was WAY too much. So much that employees often cheat customers either directly or indirectly in order to complete their route and reach their revenue goals each day or week. Training includes...well not much. Toward the end of my employment there, new hires were pretty much just thrown into a truck with a more "experienced" employee, used by them to make MORE revenue, and then in a day or so they will be on a truck of their own producing revenue and claiming to be a "specialist." If only the customer knew what goes on behind the scenes!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to shareholders...Don't be so greedy and set realistic goals. Invest more for training and incorporate some better rewards that doesn't involve working 60+ hours each and every week! Have a human resource department that actually cares and listens to employees who come to them to complain about the branch's shameful unethical behavior instead of just essentially telling them to go find another job and blaming them!!
