    I have been working at Truven Health Analytics full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Extremely smart coworkers, engaging work, opportunities to work on growth projects, room for upward movement, and flexible time off (but no carry over) and work from home benefits

    Cons

    Transition to VC ownership has been tough, especially for long term employees that are nostalgic for the "way things were". Two of the biggest impacts of this VC ownership has been the investment in training (technical and interpersonal) is non-existent, and the removal of the innovation culture that allowed for funding or creative and leading edge projects. Staff turnover has been high in recent months, with fewer replacements hired, meaning more work for remaining employees with no compensation boosts to support it. Decisions, even with excellent business cases to support them, can take FOREVER. The office culture is often "Dilbertesque" with nonsensical processes and strange management decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be open and honest about our challenges. Being "cagey" is leading employees to believe that there is writing on the wall regarding our long term future that is not positive.
    Return the innovation structure to the organization in order to allow more visibility for small but profitable ideas from your extremely smart employee base.
