Lack of leadership keeps the company from progressing.

    Pros

Downtown location, community spirit, strong employee volunteer program, fair pay, decent benefits.

    Cons

This is a company fossilized in amber. The staff in executive and middle management positions are comfortable, complacent and uninterested in moving the company forward -- because they themselves are entirely unequipped to do so. As a public utility, it's a monopoly. There is no incentive in creating a positive customer experience. Success is defined by keeping the company in compliance with regulatory standards; many of the business processes are archaic and so far behind the times, that it's stupefying. If you're looking for a comfortable ride, it's okay, but if you're looking for a progressive, innovative workplace that will positively challenge you as an employee and stimulate creative solutions to improve the customer experience, look elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company won't truly be prepared for the future if you're not willing to make hard decisions about top and middle-management staff that are allowed to languish (at best) but more typically blockade change and degrade employee morale.
