I have been working at Turbine full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

benefits/perks are decent (PAX passes, advance movie screenings, free WB movies and games, massages, free food), friendly coworkers, casual/relaxed atmosphere with a very flexible schedule, culture of game enthusiasts.

    Cons

Management is poor and dysfunctional at best, not only the internal leadership at Turbine but also corporate leadership at Warner Bros. There is a tradition of failing upwards and rewarding mediocrity. This highly political environment promotes legacy employees without industry-leading skills into senior positions. Executive Producers and Marketing run the show, with little accountability for failure to hit project deadlines or numbers. In fact, there is so little accountability for failure across the company that it may actually be a benefit to employment. Leadership treats customers like bags of money and focuses on numbers rather than game development. Studio-wide egos prevent a collaborative environment. Talent at lower levels are treated as expendable resources. Company prides themselves in hiring people who love games, but unfortunately never listens to them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No real advice to give to upper management because they are the problem. If any advice could be given, it would be that Turbine needs to learn how to develop games again and stop focusing purely on numbers and intellectual property to generate success.
