I worked at Turner Broadcasting full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Work/life balance can be good, depending on the department you're in. Excellent benefits, including company matching for 401k. PTO policy is good, with combined sick/personal/vacation days, increasing with tenure. Company culture is good, with lots of perks, including onsite gym, employee discounts. Internal training center helps employees stay current with skills. For most of my time at Turner, I was lucky to have worked with caring, understanding management, as well as talented coworkers.

    Cons

Schedules can be erratic, and starting pay is typically low, so only go into this field if it's a "calling." The closer you are to air, the crazier the schedules can be, which is typical in broadcasting. Morale is low as of August 2014. Hopefully, this will improve as the company adapts to changing consumer demands and succeeds in redefining itself. I don't think senior management is plugged into the best interests of the worker bees. Some decisions are very short-sighted, and are not easily reversed when conditions change. Developing talent from within is often not encouraged adequately.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Slashing positions may help Turner's bottom line, not to mention your personal bonus potential, but the employees left in the wake will be miserable and resentful. Please don't destroy the company I helped to build and happily called home for many years.
