I worked at Txdmv as a contractor (more than an year)

good people work in this agency as state employees; high job security for state employee positions; highly challenging environment with opportunities for improvement although the onus is on the employee to seek them out

compensation for state employees in this agency could use improvement/review, starting from the CIO level and down into the rest of the IT area; agency expects to hire the best without recognition that compensation goes along getting talent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

see cons; consider reuniting the IT department by placing the project managers back in IT as this split creates an "us" and "them" mentality that results in a less than effective organization and CYA approach to projects between the two areas
