I worked at UBS full-time (More than 3 years)
If you are going to work in an international investment bank, UBS has one of the better work life balances. Yes, you will work 10 hour + days but on the whole most people were getting home to see their families each night. In addition, the team of people actually cared about each other and were willing to work for the greater good.
Too many scandals in the past several years- rogue trader, LIBOR, FX to name a few. The actions of a few small groups and individuals across the globe had significant impact on individual compensation. Bonuses were impacted multiple years in a row with much being deferred over 5 years.
Advice to Management
Stop the revolving door of management. Each regime brings in their cronies from the previous bank and so it goes. Find a team that wants to make UBS great and build upon the great brand while it still exists.
