I worked at US Air Force full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Solid benefits, flexible hours (sometimes), great people, lots of travel. Plenty of opportunities to learn from experienced engineers. As an engineer in the military, you will get experience with many large programs and budgets which can be great for a resume.

    Cons

red tape, too many meetings, budget issues. Very few chances to do true engineering work. USAF likes to use engineers as PMs. Your technical experience as an engineer could easily be lacking as you progress, forcing you into more management positions.
