Salaries are very low for health care clinicians

I have been working at US Department of Veterans Affairs

    Pros

Serve the veterans ! As a veteran myself, it is an honor to serve other veterans

    Cons

Low salaries!, be prepared to have a significant cut in your salary (compared to private Practice) if u are a health care clinician, u will make approx 10k-20k less if u are a RN, NP, PA, PT, RT etc, worse if u are any type of medical doctor; even with the proposed salaries increase for doctors and dentist, by congress, still not nearly as competitive as in private facilities or practice.
The VA will continue to have a difficult time recruiting and retaining quality personnel.
It was also once thought that, the benefits were better than pvt organizations, but really no longer as other organization are now offering good benefits packages, including yearly bonuses, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, etc

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Make salaries more competitive,
