    Pros

Great experience to work with veterans. The range of people your work with in the office is diverse and broad in skills and talents. Good pay compared to other places to work.

    Cons

Kind of a strange pay scale in relation to education. Education isn't valued as much as time in a specific grade, which makes it really hard to continue to advance. Working a government job is irritating when politics get involved. Firing anybody is near impossible, especially if that person is in management. This creates an atmosphere that if you have someone in a management position that has NO leadership skills, everyone suffers below them.

    Advice to Management

Cut off, as you would a rotting limb, the decaying management that under performs, aren't in touch with their departments, don't understanding the mission of the VA, and stuffle advancement from those that otherwise could make great changes in the VA.
