I worked at US National Guard (More than 5 years)

I enjoyed being able to serve my country, learn how to maintain and use weapons properly, learn leadership skills, and also survival skills such as CPR.

There were not many cons to this other than adjusting to the lifestyle. The requirement was one weekend a month, 2 weeks a year and when you're not constantly training as a soldier, it can be difficult to get into that mindset and stay in shape and up to date with the Army lifestyle.
