I have been working at US Navy full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The opportunity to lead the best America has to offer. The relentless and every present challenge of addressing adversity and making things work. It is a life-altering experience that will make you a better leader, manager and person.

    Cons

It requires near complete dedication and you have to be willing to spend as much time at work that is required to get the task/job/mission done. Deployments start at 6 months and can extend to 10 months. The time away from family is very tough, but being with your shipmates does help make it easier.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to take care of your people - they will take care of you.
