    I have been working at Ultra Electronics

    Pros

    The non-management teams tend to be hard-working and the engineering staff are excellent. People are friendly and help each other out.

    Cons

    It is incedibly hard to do a good job. Internal communcation is poor, the business systems and procedures are either non-existent or time-intensive, widely bypassed and inefficient. Management at all levels is ineffective, insular, uncommunicative, demanding and overly political. there is a blame culture propogated by senior management.

    Senior management do not listen, are not pro-active and often wait until a situation has become critical before responding despite repeated warnings.

    Staff turnover is astronomical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    this applies to Controls Division Only: Senior management need to listen more, tell the truth about the company's situation in breifings and stop trying to pull the wool over our eyes. staff the place properly and pay people what they are worth; give clear strategic leadership, commit resources to solve problems inadvance rather than waiting to see if they develop into major problems.
