Good at what they do, but not good with their people

I have been working at United Auto Credit Corp full-time

    Pros

    - Fun atmosphere (for better or worse)
    - They are always hiring
    - They seem to bring us food almost every week
    - (New) Monthly all-hands meetings. They still need to work out the kinks. If you want to improve communication, ask for our feedback before making decisions. Don't tell us that you care about what we think but only tell us about the decisions after you've made them.
    - Parking is plentiful
    - Area around office is nice
    - Executives are friendly
    - Training has been provided without any trouble

    Cons

    - They are adding 40 more cubes into an already noisy and crowded office.
    - In the words of an executive: "We have more money they we know what to do with" yet the compensation and benefits are lacking.
    - "One size fits all" office layout. UACC has embraced the 2002 idea of the open office environment. Our cube walls are very short. They think this helps communication. It makes us feel like they don't trust us. No privacy, no quiet, no focus, no productivity.
    - 401k will match a max of 3% but you won't see that matching until the end of the year. After vesting, it's almost like it's not there.
    - Medical Insurance is bad. Not sure what else to say about it.
    - Communication: I think there is a misunderstanding about this. We took a survey as a company. The results showed that communication was a concern. We meant communication from the executive level to the rest of us. I have no problem getting up and walking over to my neighbor.
    - Turnover is incredibly high. A lot of policies seem to be designed to curb turnover, but in reality they punish those of us looking for a good job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Please stop burning money by paying talented people to sit at desks where they can't concentrate and get work done.
    - Bring your people in on the planing. It will go a long way.
    - The all-hands meetings are nice. Continue to recognize those who are achieving. Recognizing birthdays and work anniversaries is nice, too.
